Birther Bunnies
This being Easter week and, seeing that we’re experiencing a sort of rebirth of the “birther” conspiracy (thanks to Donald Trump’s need for media attention), I thought it would be fun to combine the two ideas into one cartoon. My original idea was to have chickens seeking proof that another chicken was properly “hatched.” I think the term “hatcher” is much funnier than “birther” don’t you? I wasn’t able to focus that concept into something that worked so I abandoned the chickens for humans. I will point out though that all humans appearing in this cartoon have been certified as “free range.”
Appeared April 20, 2011 in The Chattanooga Pulse.
“Grand Ole Sopry”
In 2010 Nashville, TN experienced a devastating flood which caused extensive damage to homes and businesses including The Grand Ole Opry House and the luxurious Opryland Hotel. I drew this cartoon as a tribute and despite listing the text number for people to donate to the Red Cross, I was still accused of making fun of the situation.

“Improving the Offense”
One of my personal favorites. Originally appeared in the MetroPulse then later reappeared in 2010 in the Chattanooga Pulse proving a good scandal is timeless.
“Junkie”
I’ve learned that whenever one does a cartoon with a message about guns some people immediately get offended even if they don’t know what the cartoon is about. It’s as if they only see two sides of the issue and can’t look at any of the areas within that aren’t about “for” or “against.”
I drew this cartoon during a time when there seemed to be a lot of stories about shootings in the news yet there were also stories about laws being passed allowing guns in public parks, restaurants, etc. I started getting the idea of the typical junkie who wanted to control his habit, yet couldn’t and that eventually became a cartoon of the state of Tennessee literally “shooting up.” Not a pro or anti-gun message. Just an example of someone not ready to take care of obvious problems that are out of control.
Appeared April 21, 2010 in The Chattanooga Pulse.
“Winston the Car-Eating Dog”
Winston the pit bull mix took a bite out of crime fighters.
Appeared March 17, 2010 in The Chattanooga Pulse.
