Sketch Comedy

One of my greatest loves is sketch comedy. When I was a kid I couldn’t wait to watch shows like The Carol Burnett Show, The Flip Wilson Show, Saturday Night Live, SCTV, Monty Python’s Flying Circus and Rowan and Martin’s Laugh In. I loved the sketches on variety shows like The Donny and Marie Show, Shields and Yarnell, The Sonny and Cher Show and The Dean Martin Show. I would often memorize bits and perform them at school talent shows or in front of my family. However, it wasn’t until the late 80’s, after I had been performing standup for a couple years, that I discovered my sketch comedy soul mates in The Kids In The Hall. These guys wrote and performed comedy the way I had done it in my head but thought no one else wanted to see. I still consider their work to be some of the best comic sketches ever written. So, here are a few samples of my own sketch comedy writings. These sketches were written for a sketch comedy group I was putting together and ended up disbanding before ever performing in public. A couple of these were performed by another group which I wasn’t a part of but I enjoyed seeing them brought to life. The sketches are published here for reading purposes and to serve as an example of my work. If you wish to perform any of these sketches in public, please donate to my PayPal account. There is no standard fee. Just donate what you can. These sketches may be used for rehearsal, auditions or class work at no cost. [paypal-donation]
