Digital painting/caricature of Robert Downey, Jr. I may have to pull this one back out in the future. Lot more stuff I’d like to do with it. But here it is for now…
This week it was announced that Ashton Kutcher will replace Charlie Sheen on the CBS television show “Two And A Half Men.” I have to admit that I’ve never seen an entire episode of “2.5 Men” but I loved “That 70s Show” and thought Mr. Kutcher to be a mighty fine comic actor. So to congratulate him in his new role and wish him luck I have rendered him in caricature.
I had too many varied caricature sketches of Cowboy Mouth’s Fred LeBlanc not to do another finished caricature. I think this one is totally different in style from the first one. I wanted to keep the painting style loose and rough to match the extreme exaggeration of the caricature.
This is my first attempt at creating a caricature using nothing but Adobe Photoshop filters and features. Although I prefer the traditional way of exaggerating and distorting by hand-drawn methods, this is the direction caricature illustration seems to be going. While I can see myself exploring this method in much more depth, I think my use for it will probably be as a foundation or reference for the beginning caricature drawing or painting.
